Knee conditions treated by Mr Vishal Pai

Mr Pai specialises in knee surgery. He treats conditions that involve the cartilage, ligaments, meniscus, kneecap and trauma of the knee.

Vishal Pai treats the following conditions:

Cartilage Conditions

Over time, the cartilage in your knee can deteriorate. Typically, it does not repair itself. If left untreated, this can ultimately mean that you suffer from pain and lose function in your knee, making walking and other activities difficult.

Surgery for your cartilage condition can help to reduce any knee pain, restore the function of your knee, and potentially slow down any future deterioration.

  • Osteochondritis Dissecans
  • Articular Cartilage Injury

Ligament Conditions

The knee joint has two sets of ligaments - collateral ligaments (medial and lateral) that connect the bones on the outside of your knee, and cruciate ligaments (anterior cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament) that are on the inside of your knee. If any of these are damaged, it can make your knee unstable.

Mr Pai specialises in treating ACL injuries in adults and children.

  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury
  • Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) Injury
  • Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Injury
  • Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) Injury
  • Multi-ligament Injury
  • Posterolateral Corner Injuries

Meniscal Conditions

Meniscus injuries — especially meniscus tears — are one of the more common types of knee injuries. Although they don’t always require surgery, a consultation with a knee specialist can ensure you of the most appropriate treatment pathway that leads to a fast recovery.

  • Meniscus Tear
  • Discoid Meniscus
  • Osteoarthritis

Patellofemoral Conditions

These conditions impact your kneecap and the front of your knee. Problems with you kneecap can present with pain at the front of your knee or a dislocating kneecap.

  • Chondromalacia Patella
  • Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
  • Patellofemoral Instability

Trauma Injury

Traumatic injuries around your knee joint can cause a sudden loss of movement and function in your knee. Fractures of your kneecap and tibial plateau can lead to long-term consequences, such as knee arthritis.

Get your traumatic injury assessed urgently by Mr Pai so you can receive the appropriate management and get on the road to recovery.

  • Tibial Plateau Fracture
  • Patella Fracture
  • Patella Tendon Injury
  • Quadriceps Tendon Injury
