Knee Surgery Performed

Mr Vishal Pai is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee surgery and commonly performs the following procedures:

ACL surgery

Condition

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injuries happen when the ligament inside your knee gets torn, often during sports or accidents.

Surgery

ACL surgery involves repairing or replacing the torn ligament using tissue from another part of your body or a donor. The surgeon makes small cuts around your knee to do this.

Knee arthroscopy

Condition

Knee problems like torn cartilage or damaged ligaments can cause pain and swelling.

Surgery

Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery in which a tiny camera and small tools are inserted through small incisions in the knee. Mr Pai can then see inside and fix the problem without making big cuts.

Knee replacement

Condition

Severe arthritis or injury can damage the knee joint, causing pain and stiffness that makes it hard to walk or move.

Surgery

In knee replacement surgery, the damaged parts of the knee joint are replaced with artificial parts made of metal and plastic. This helps reduce pain and improve movement.

Realignment osteotomy

Condition

Sometimes, the alignment of the bones in the knee is off, causing uneven wear and tear, pain, and instability.

Surgery

Realignment osteotomy involves cutting and repositioning the bones around the knee to improve alignment. This can help reduce pain and prevent further damage.

Patella stabilisation

Condition

The patella, or kneecap, can become unstable and dislocate, causing pain and difficulty moving.

Surgery

Patella stabilisation surgery involves tightening or repairing the ligaments and tendons around the patella to keep it in place. This helps prevent it from dislocating again.

PCL surgery

Condition

The PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) is a ligament in the knee that can get injured, often due to a strong force hitting the front of the knee, like in a car accident or during sports.

Surgery

PCL surgery involves repairing or reconstructing the torn ligament. This is usually done by replacing the damaged ligament with tissue from another part of your body or a donor. The surgeon makes small cuts around the knee to access the ligament and perform the repair. This helps stabilize the knee and restore its function.
